David Kroh
David Kroh was born in Windsor, Ontario and has maintained lifelong roots here.
His initial career choice would have been to become a doctor. But as he mulled this idea around in his mind he came to the conclusion that the only one who really reaps the benefits of this profession is the wife /husband of a doctor. So he enrolled at the University of Windsor and set out to get his business degree. In mid-stream he slowly changed his major and went on to study social work and psychology. So in short, he was going to become the business man with a human perspective.
David has travelled the world extensively and was able to observe, appreciate, and enjoy many different cultures outside of North America. He found a lifelong interest in Eastern philosophy and way of life, and has been very active in his spare time volunteering as an instructor with the Taoist Tai Chi Society, Windsor Branch.
Through his travels and throughout his life, David has learned that true success in life comes from beliefs which he exercises not just in business, but in day-to-day living—those of compassion/kindness, modesty and simplicity. Honesty, faithfulness to commitments, fairness and freedom of choice form the basis of his life’s practices. In a business sense this also translates to his belief that we all work for a greater good and not to harm. So for him, operating his own business was his avenue to be able to put his beliefs to work and enable him to be giving to others.
David’s giving extends beyond his work life. As an adult he has had many opportunities to volunteer in the community. He recently was the Vice President of the Taoist Tai Chi Society – Windsor Branch, a non-profit organization where he has been an active participant and volunteer instructor of Tai Chi for 10 years. David also sits on the Board of Directors for Handi-Transit in Windsor.
Business Synopsis
Early in his employment career David worked in telecommunications and small electronics throughout the Windsor area and honed his skills in the retail and service industry. In this capacity David was able to study both the fundamental and vital elements of the corporate world from a practical angle. He became dissatisfied with working for someone else. This dissatisfaction motivated him to step out on faith and start up his own company. His initial launch into business was a partnership in the computer hardware industry. David sold his interest in this business and founded AssKickin Solutions Inc. (AKS), a software/web solutions provider located in Windsor, Ontario in 1999.
AKS has been a core element of David’s pursuit of his passions and dreams. The company started in a small location on Walker Road and specialized in website development. In time it broadened its product offerings to include offsite back up, web and email hosting, and custom software solutions. As it grew it moved to Erie Street and then to its current location on Ouellette Ave. Despite its growth and development over the years since it was founded, David and his beliefs remain central to its success.
