Jacqueline Marchand

Jacqueline Marchand was born the eldest of 5 children in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. As a young girl her memories are that of having a close knit, fun loving family that she was blessed to call her own. She completed both primary and secondary school in Trinidad and went on to take a two-year dress making course that would define and establish the basis for her future career in fashion design.

At age 27, Jacqueline left her home, family, and friends, moving to Toronto to seek better opportunities. Upon her arrival she took on work as a professional nanny and attended evening studies to learn about proper skin care, colour analysis and make-up artistry, all of which would eventually contribute to her ability to integrate fashion with beauty.

Jacqueline relocated to Belle River, Ontario in 1993 after accepting a new job opportunity. As destiny would have it, this move added many new dimensions to her life including a wonderful man and his 4 children. Marriage ensued, followed by their son Steven.

In 1998 Jacqueline decided to turn her love for sewing from a hobby into a full time business and established Jacqueline’s Own. After a decade as an entrepreneur, she offers a wide variety of services from alterations, fashion design, to high couture for men, women and children. She has the amazing ability to create distinctive fashion to wear within mere hours.

The success she enjoys is a direct result of her creativity, work ethic, and passion for fashion. Her long term goal is to educate her clientele to define their personal style through fashion design that establishes contour, creates balance, and compliments body shape at any size.

In her leisure time she enjoys working out, belly dancing, listening to music, and singing. On weekends she goes about doing “God’s business” by singing in the choir and dedicating time to the children’s ministry at her church. Jacqueline also does volunteer work as a sewing instructor, nail technician and skin colour analyst for a local non-profit organization.
